- The FBI is analyzing new DNA evidence, including hair, collected from the home of Nancy Guthrie.
- The new samples are distinct from a recent batch of samples that did not yield any new leads in the search for the missing 84-year-old.
- *Today *anchor Savannah Guthrie's mother was reported missing from her home in Tuscon, Ariz. on Feb. 1.
The FBI has uncovered a possible new lead in the search for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of *Today** *anchor Savannah Guthrie.
DNA evidence, including hair, has been recovered from Guthrie's Tuscon, Ariz. home, and has been sent for analysis, per a Thursday ABC News report.
The information was first reported by NewsNation, which notes that the new crop of evidence is distinct from samples that were recently tested at a Florida lab frequently used by the local investigating body in the case, the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
Previously analyzed DNA samples either did not match any entry on CODIS (Combined DNA Index System), the FBI's centralized database for DNA storage and research, or were compromised as a result of becoming "mixed."

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on Feb. 1. She was last seen by family members, who dropped her off outside her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood of Tucson the night before.
Within days of the launch of a massive effort to aid in her recovery, the FBI released disturbing images and video captured from a Nest camera on Guthrie's door from the night of her disappearance. They depicted what Director Kash Patel called an "an armed individual" appearing to tamper with the camera.
Since then, Guthrie's case has been treated as a possible abduction.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI have publicly noted the discovery and analysis of evidence such as gloves, surveillance images, and more, but no suspects have been announced in a search that is now well into its third month.
Savannah took a weeks-long leave of absence from *Today *following her mother being declared missing. She and her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, have shared numerous videos and messages with the public, pleading for tips and support in the hunt for their mother.
She returned to *Today** *on April 6, joining her cohost Craig Melvin for their first live broadcast in over two months. "It is good to be home," she told Melvin. Before diving back into the news cycle, Savannah said, "Here we go. Ready or not, let's do the news."
